Our Terms

These legal terms are between you and Adorable Dorks Events Limited (Adorable Dorks/Us/We), and you agree to them by participating in Adorable Dorks events or interacting with our event websites, such as https://shattered-veil.dorks.io.

These terms are governed by English law, and English courts.

You should read this along with our Privacy Policy.

How to contact us

For general account enquiries, you can use our email for an official response, or our Discord server for general assistance.

How we'll contact you

In the event we need to contact you, we'll use a few ways to do this.

  • For issues that affect just your account, we'll contact you via your registered email.
  • For more widespread issues, we may use our Discord server in combination with an email notification.
  • In emergencies, we'll use the phone number and/or emergency phone number you can provide to us in your profile.

We will never use your personal information for marketing unless you expressly ask us to.
All of our mandatory email is transactional, for example:

  • Password reset emails ("forgot password" links).
  • Ticket purchase receipts, and QR codes.
  • Notifications generated from chargebacks or refunds.
  • Two-factor email confirmations

We also encrypt your personal information (except your email address) at rest so any access is auditable.
To opt out of mandatory emails, you can delete your account or email us at [email protected] from the email associated with your account.

How we use your data

By accepting these terms, you agree to us using your data in these ways:

  • To provide website services to you (e.g. logging in, managing what data we hold).
  • To interact with our events (e.g. creating a character, purchasing an event ticket).
  • To provide information to emergency services/next of kin in the event of an accident at one of our events.
  • To allow us to notify you of important information about your account.
  • To prevent fraud and data misuse with our payment providers.

Character Data

Character Data is data you have created using our Character Creator to roleplay a character at one of our events.

You agree that this data and any associated copyright is given to Adorable Dorks upon creation/submission in order for us to provide an immersive game experience.

For this reason, character data will persist despite account deletion, unless requested and agreed by us, and we reserve the sole right to deletion.

We will always seek your permission before using your character in any Player-vs-Player interactions.

Ticket purchases

Our website gives you the ability to purchase tickets to our events - these are floating tickets not tied to a single event, that can be purchased in advance.

They are transferable between events, and giftable between different users of our websites (subject to these same terms).

Refunds

To request a refund, please follow the process for this via your ticket history page.
Note that if a ticket has been gifted to another user, it is not eligible for a refund unless the user it was gifted to returns it first.

Refunds are available on a ticket until any of the following happen:

  • A ticket is linked to an event, and that event is attended (via scanning a QR code or collecting your character sheet at an event in person).
  • A ticket is linked to an event, not attended, and 28 days have passed since the event's start.
  • 3 months have passed since the purchase of the ticket.

Note that even after 3 months, we can still be contacted to figure out a way forward if you wish to refund a ticket.

In the event you have an outstanding unpaid balance on your account, you will be blocked from linking and purchasing new tickets.

Chargebacks

You agree not to initiate chargebacks as an attendee of the system unless you have first contacted us; refunding is simple and easy, and chargebacks are not.

We reserve the right to permanently ban you from all current and future Adorable Dorks games in the event of a chargeback being raised.
This will be immediate and automatic.

If a chargeback is raised on a gifted ticket, the purchasing user will be banned, while the ticket will be invalidated for the giftee.

Most of our events, like Shattered Veil, are combat-heavy Live Roleplay Events, using

By attending our events in person, you agree to the following policies:

A short summary is that you agree to treat all attendees and volunteers/staff with respect, without discrimination, and follow the rules of the event being attended.
You also agree not to give alcohol to under 18s, and you must actively supervise any 16 or 17 year olds you bring to our events at all times.
We reserve the right to ask for government-issued ID to prove your age if required, and issue in-game and out-of-game sanctions depending on the severity of a breach.

Sanctions against players/crew

Conduct from a player or volunteer/crew member which crosses any of the following lines will be subject to sanctions.

  • Unwanted sexual attention, harassment, or misconduct.
  • Excessive drinking, or violating the drug policy.
  • Repeatedly ignoring safety information from referees or the game team.
  • Repeated warnings for unsafe combat (e.g. unpulled blows, using weapons not allowed by the game team).
  • Bullying, or harassing other attendees or crew.
  • Any other situation where Adorable Dorks and its staff members find a player/crew members conduct has been unacceptable.

When raising a grievance against another attendee, please email this to [email protected].

Please reach out to one of them privately on Discord and your concern will be handled in confidence as much as possible.

List of Sanctions

We have no set order for escalation of sanctions we may use against an event attendee, but a general rule of thumb is a verbal warning, followed by a written warning, a temporary ban, and a permanent ban.

This is rarely the case in reality, and so we make no guarantees on ordering here.

Sanctions include:

  • Verbal Warnings
  • Written Warnings (via email)
  • Temporary Bans (event or time-based)
  • Ticket Revocation
  • Permanent Bans
  • Police Intervention

We also reserve the right to inform other LARP systems and the police of extreme misconduct that may endanger the public.

Updating Terms & Conditions

We will update these terms and conditions periodically, giving 28 days notice if they materially change.

By continuing to attend our events, you agree to abide by the new terms.
You'll also be asked to accept the new terms when purchasing a ticket.

To reject the new updates to our terms, you can choose the "Delete Account" option in your dashboard.
